The conference is organized by EARCOS [East Asia regional Council of Schools]. The Theme is ‘Together, Again’. There are Excellent keynote speakers and over 100 workshop sessions all geared to meet the needs of schools and their leaders. We are also excited that there is a special luncheon for Women in Leadership with a discussion panel on practical strategies to build community, practice self care, handle bias and confrontation, navigate obstacles, strengthen your emotional intelligence, and build your vision of female leadership. MENU FOR OCTOBER

A NOTE FROM SCHOOL NURSE

Cambodia is going through a season with increased temperature and
rainfall. The warm and wet weather provides an optimal environment for mosquito breeding.
Thus, we must remain cautious regarding mosquito-borne illnesses, such as dengue fever.
Dengue fever is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito (Aedes aegypti or locally
known as “tiger” mosquito). This species is recognizable through stripes on its abdomen and
legs. They bite throughout the day but peak between 6-8 am and 4-6 pm.
Prevention strategies:
• Eliminate stagnant water at home, such as pots, plants, and water containers/basins
• Wear mosquito repellent
• Have screens on doors and windows
• Wear long, loose clothing
The most common symptom is a high fever (40°C/ 104°F), accompanied by two of the
following:
• severe headache
• pain behind the eyes
• muscle and joint pains
• rash, fatigue
• nausea/vomiting.
If someone is suspected of having contracted dengue fever, it is important to stay hydrated and
promptly seek medical care.
