DRESS DOWN FOR LY HEAP
Thank you for your generosity! The Logos community donated about $4,200 dollars to help Mr. Ly with the expenses related to his cancer treatment. Praise the Lord for this provision through our community! Here’s a note from Mr. Ly:
Dear Logos Staff, Students, and Parents,
I’m Ly Hieb. I would like to say thank you so much for your donation and your prayers for me during my sickness. Now I’m in the process of recovering from surgery. I’m able to sit up and walk easier by myself around the house. My body is still weak, and it will take time for me to get back to normal.
I believe through all your prayers and support, will speed up my healing progression.
I truly, truly appreciate your kind help and your prayers.
Many, many thanks, and more blessings to you all.
Expected Student Outcomes [ESLRs]: A Help, or Just Hype?
In this recent ACSI Blog we read,
”In the last five to ten years, there has been an increased emphasis on establishing expected student outcomes (ESOs) and using them throughout the school. Accreditation protocols at all levels require these student learning outcomes and colleges have used these as the basis for program and institutional effectiveness measures. Is this just a case of adopting some educational jargon, or is there an actual benefit behind this increased emphasis? In other words, are ESOs a help to schools in fulfilling their missions, or are they more educational hype? ”
The author, Erin Wilcox, Assistant Vice President, ACSI Academic Services, develops her blog to show that
1. ESCs [ESLRs] help Christian Schools achieve their mission
2. Research supports the importance of ESOs [ESLRs]
3. Well developed ESOs [ESLRs] create a clear focus
4. ESOs [ESLRs] are unique to each school
Wilcox concludes by saying,
”Too often there has been a disconnect between rhetoric and reality, or between the school’s foundational statements and the daily grind of lesson plans, assessments, and operational decisions. The value of ESOs is understanding what you want your students to come out of your school knowing, believing, and doing—and connecting that understanding to everyday practice in the school. If well-articulated, ESOs will effectively guide your decisions and provide a clear focus on the results that are most important to your school community.”
