School Closure Update

The MoEYS has closed all Private and Public institutions of learning in Phnom Penh and Kandal province for at least 2 weeks, effective Feb 23rd, 2021.
The situation has continued to expand.  We will wait for the MoEYS to give us guidance about opening our school.

Monday, March 8, is a holiday, and we will post updated information on that day about continuing online or returning to campus.
This is in response to the unprecedented number of Covid-19 cases connected with the February 20 Community Incident.

Anyone who has had contact with the places listed or lives with someone who has should follow the government guidelines.

Stay healthy and safe. Try to stay actively involved with your online classes.
Wear a mask, Observe social distancing, & wash your hands often.

Updated list of locations closed by Covid-19 positive cases

Please contact the Logos office if you or your family has come in contact with any of these locations.
Do not hesitate to contact your child’s administrator during this time.

Online ½ Day Zoom Schedule and Homework Expectations for Secondary Students

Since the government closed schools in Phnom Penh for at least two weeks, Logos provides online education.  In order to limit online fatigue, we shortened secondary classes to 40-minute ZOOM sessions ending by noon.  Students will have independent work to complete in the afternoons or evenings. This is similar to the schedule secondary had from March through May of 2020.  Check Out the Online Timetable

Teachers may provide up to 30 minutes of independent learning activities or homework per class, although some larger long-term projects like essays or presentations may take students longer if they do not divide the work up over the allotted days. If students work diligently on their assignments in the afternoon without too many distractions or breaks, they should be able to complete their homework in a maximum of two to two and a half hours. (i.e. from 1:00 pm to 3:30pm).

School Nurse Update

I am so proud of all our students. This past month on campus they have consistently demonstrated good hand washing techniques, proper mask-wearing, and social distancing. I am confident they will continue these needed skills at home and in our community. This is a good legacy to leave with our students.

Friday, March 12, 2021, my family will be moving back to the USA. This is a bitter-sweet move for all of us. I will miss praying with your children when they came to see me and visiting with all of you during drop-off and pick-up times. I know the Lord will bring the right Nurse to care for your children and our Logos community.  May the Lord bless each one of you. –Courtney Hogue

Nurse Courtney Hogue

Logos International School has been blessed to have Mrs. Courtney Hogue as our school nurse.  She has helped maintain a safe campus during this crazy time of Covid-19. Mrs. Hogue will be moving away from Cambodia at the end of the 3rd quarter. Friday, March 12th, 2021 will be her last day at Logos. Please join us in wishing her and her family well as they move to a new country to serve. Thank you for your service, Courtney.

At the same time, we are pleased to announce that Mrs. Bethany Pearson will be stepping in as the Logos School Nurse beginning Friday, March 12th. Bethany is an RN and has previously served as an interim nurse at Logos. She will help care for our students and staff as we maneuver through the Covid-19 protocols. Please help us welcome Bethany to our Logos community.

School Counselor’s Corner

Many selective universities in Western countries use something they call holistic applicant review. With the pandemic causing many disruptions to education, it’s important parents and students know that many of their university choices offer more chances for the student to self-advocate than ever before. Check out this VIDEO from a university admissions counselor at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University.
