Welcome back from a long weekend off; I hope you and your family had a good time over the five day break. The teacher retreat was a fantastic time as teachers spent time together down at Sihanoukville, and in the words of one staff member, “It was our best teacher retreat yet!” It seems that many of these event get better and better each year. Now, onto the rest of the Wednesday Update.
Early Release Days
Over the course of this school year, the teachers at Logos will be engaged in some professional development activities and planning activities that are related to our ACSI / WASC accreditation. In order to accomplish the goals we have for the faculty,we will have five Early Release days to facilitate meeting times. The Early Release Days are Wednesday Sept. 21st,Nov. 30th,Jan. 25th,March 28th,and April 25th. On each of these days, school will close at 12:00 noon, and students will be required to be off campus at 12:30pm. No lunch will be served on those days, and the school vans will leave the campus at 12:15 to take students home. Please ensure that you make the appropriate arrangements for your children on those days. There will be no after-school program available for children on Early Release days. Please note that the first Early Release day is next Wednesday.
Could you use some extra hands of service?
Logos International School is looking for various opportunities where our students can serve in practical ways that will be helpful to you and your ministry. We are looking at setting aside 2-3 consecutive full days in November to begin, and are open to various possibilities following the initial 2-3 days. We have approximately 25 students per grade, totaling 175 students,so you can request as many,or as few students as you see fit for the project. Our students are gifted in a wide variety of areas, and could help out in the following ways:
Physical labor – construction,painting,cleaning,picking up trash,etc
Academics – teaching English,Bible lessons (both in English and Khmer)
Music,Art,Drama,Sports
Prayer ministry
Compassion care – hygiene, delivering food, home visits for various needs
