Wednesday Update Sept 1st

Dear Logos Family,

Wednesday UpdateMany thanks to those of you that came to the Back to School Night last Friday evening. It was nice to meet many of you and I hope you enjoyed meeting your child’s teacher(s). Many of you have shared your excitement about a full year in the new facility and with the great new staff we have with us this year. Part of our excitement is in changing some of the dates in the school calendar this year to help avoid some of the congestion in the schedule. In the not so distant future, we have decided to move the date of the annual Jog-a-thon to just before the Water Festival Break. We think this is a great time to celebrate the Jog-a-thon and we hope you are able to come along side us again this year. Just below in this Wednesday Update is a recent post that Dan Hein has been able to put together. Please take the time to read it. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please come into the office and have a chat with us. We enjoy listening and sharing ideas with you.

And now, the beautiful and exciting Wednesday Update. Continue reading Wednesday Update Sept 1st

Logos 2010 Jog-A-Thon: November 19th

The date may be different, but the event is the same; Logos will be holding its 3rd annual Jog-A-Thon on November 19th.  This year, we are raising money for new computers.  In fact, we are anticipating to raise enough money that we will be able to purchase an entirely new set of computers for the high school computer lab! Not only will this enable our middle and high school teachers to work on the newest computers, it will also help our elementary students.  We will be able to get rid of our 9 year old computers in the elementary lab, and replace them with some brand new computers and some of the better computers from our old high school lab.  We are very excited about this project….so excited that we have already begun to make some of the changes.

Now normally it is not wise to begin to purchase items before the money has come in, however, we are extremely excited to announce that a very generous donor has decided to help us with our Jog-A-Thon fund raising this year.  In fact, this donor is willing to give us up to $15,000 U.S. towards our Jog-A-Thon donations.  Here is how it works:  There is no matching donation for the first $5,000.  However, for every dollar that is raised beyond $5,000, he will match it with a dollar of his own.  So, if we raise $7,000 during our Jog-A-Thon, he will donated $2,000 to the event.  However….it gets even better.  For every dollar raised between $10,000-$15,000, he will donate two dollars.  Sounds confusing…may be a little, but when it is all said and done, if we raise $15,000, he will donate $15,000, which would give us a total of $30,000 in donations.  We have never raised $15,000 yet, so we need your help with this so that we can meet our Goal of $30,000.

Here is how you can help!  Students can ask people not just from Cambodia to donate to the Jog-A-Thon, but from around the WORLD.  We will give out the details in a future Wednesday Update, but Students can call or email their friends and family members around the world and have them donate to the Asian Hope website using their credit card.  American citizens will receive a tax receipt from Asian Hope, and everyone else can use the convenience of on-line donation.  Of course, a student can still receive money directly from a person that wants to donate, or money can be donated directly to the office, but students are not limited to asking people only here in Cambodia.  If they know someone that has internet access, they can ask them.

There will, of course, be a whole host of great prizes again this year that students can win.

We are still getting the list together, but a Jog-A-Thon T-shirt will be given out to everyone who raises $25 or more.  Other items that are on the list is ice-cream, Free Dress Down coupons, Free yearbooks, Free high school banquette tickets, a $50 shopping spree, a bag of sports equipment and MORE!  All the students will get hot dogs and ice cream that day at Lunch.  It will be a great time and I know that we are all looking forward to it.  Remember, keep your eyes on the Wed. Update for more details!

Too sick to swim during swim class?

Too sick to swim? KEEP your child at home please!

At Logos, swimming is a great part of a child’s  enjoyment of physical education. The pool is  a designed very large salt water pool with special pumps and filters to keep the pool clean and the water healthy.

When you say your child is too sick to swim?

Please understand that if you think your child is going to be “too sick” to swim on a particular day, we ask that you keep your child at home  for that day. Otherwise the child will need to be sent home from school at the beginning of the day because it is not fair to expose the other children to sickness  during the time before swimming. Thanks for your understanding and assistance. Also a reminder to all parents to make sure your son or daughter has packed his/her swim clothes for scheduled swim times.
